Apartment La Torre, in
the village of
Cetona
(sleeps 6) |
|

|
This stunning apartment has been built
into the restoration of an old mediaeval tower. The four floors of the apartment
are connected by a beautiful travertine stairway with niches concealing small
sculptures. |
|

On the ground floor there is a spacious
entrance hall running into a circular reception room moulded into the shape of
the tower, a small window offers glimpses of the countryside. |
 |
|
A few small steps give access to the ancient tufa
(traditional calciferous building material) cellar, and to a terrace
furnished with table and chairs for sitting out in the open with a peaceful
view. There is a small bathroom just before the steps out to the terrace. |
 |
|
|
On the first floor there is a
large comfortable kitchen and another reception room with a fireplace.
The floor above has two
comfortable double bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower/tub. |
|
Up a few more stairs to the
third floor, here there is an elegant mansard room with twin beds, a
bathroom with a shower/bath and a study with a series of windows all
around, offering a sweep from north to south, from the traditional roofs
of the town to the valley and the Umbrian hills that Citta della
Pieve dominates. |
 |
 |
A small door gives access out on
to a terrace from which there is a unique view. The house is furnished
with a great deal of taste and has a unique charm, making a holiday here
into a truly special experience.
|
|
The heating and the fire also make a
winter stay feasible. Given that there are many stairs, it is not recommended
for families with small children.
