Two extraordinary apartments
in the guest wing of the castle at Montegiove, a small village in
the Montegabbione municipality.
Montegiove, almost as near
to Rome (154 km) as it is to Florence (151 km) via the nearby major
service routes, is the ideal base for visiting the artistic and
historical treasures of Tuscany and Umbria, such as Orvieto, Todi,
Spoleto, Assisi, Perugia, Siena, and Arezzo. |

The Montegiove Castello,
high up on the wooded hills, has stood guard over the historical
boundary between the important cities of Perugia and Orvieto since
the early 12th century. It is a fine example of a mediaeval fort
that has been attentively preserved by the Marchesi (from the
marches) Misciattelli Mocenigo Soranzo for the last four
centuries. It stands in the middle of more than 1000 hectares of
unspoiled land, amongst oaks, vines, olive trees, pasture and arable
land, in complete harmony with the ancient dry stone walls and
mediaeval stone houses. |

The primary products from
the Montegiove smallholding are wine, extra virgin olive oil,
cereals, oleaginous (oil-bearing) species, forage and wood, there
are also abundant wild fauna such as wild boar and roe deer and very
sought-after funghi and truffles. The beauty of the unspoiled
surroundings is incredible when you think that Montegiove is only 17
km from the A1 (Milan - Naples) autostrada, which also
connects Rome and Florence.

fireplace and double sofa bed, and kitchen.

heating, fully fitted-out kitchen and shared laundry.

There is a cook available on request who will
provide typical national and local meals.
